Closing Your Pool For The Season

You’ve stopped swimming in your pool and you’ve stopped heating it; but because this is Vancouver, you’re not planning to full-on winterize it. We totally understand that... but you’re not just planning on ignoring it until spring, are you? If you are, we're here to tell you that's a bad idea.

“Hey,” you say defensively, “I keep a puck in the skimmer. It always stays clear.” Sorry. Still not okay.

Winter - Is Your Pool Ready?

We want you to make informed decisions on the winterization of your swimming pool, spa or fountain. Here is information to help you decide if your pool is ready for winter.

Tips For Fall

As we start moving toward the fall and winter season, the temperatures start dropping. You may not be ready to close your pool just yet as there are some warm days still forecasted. Nonetheless, you should start caring for your pool with the mind-set that winter is just around the corner.

Us vs. Mosquitoes

The good news: of the over 3,000 species of mosquitoes, only a couple hundred bite us.

The bad news: the human-biting kinds of mosquitoes are everywhere.

Mosquitoes are a huge nuisance; always have been, always will be. This is why most of us have heard of folksy ways of repelling them, such as eating garlic or wearing light colours. You might have also heard that mosquitoes are especially attracted to pregnant women or certain blood types. None of this is true.

Chemical Oxidation & Storage

When it comes to chemical storage, make sure your eqipment is protected. Certain pool chemicals can be highly corrosive and although in sealed containers, can produce off-gas which causes damage to equipment or systems that are located in poorly ventilated areas. This includes heaters, boilers, and any other system with metal components that is in close proximity to the chemicals.
